Wooden Charger
The casing of REST is crafted from domestically sourced cedar thinned wood. As cedar is a very soft material, it is typically not suitable for furniture or appliances. However by compressing its thickness with heat compression technology, we succeeded to triple the hardness of it to manufacture cedar appliances. While REST seamlessly blends into your interiors with its beautiful texture of cedar, it also contributes to forest conservation through the tree thinning practices. REST comes in two colors: Light Brown and Dark Brown. Choose the one that complements your existing furniture. *Heat compression technology is a technology owned by Hida Sangyo Co., Ltd.


Sustainable Resources
Japan is one of the world's leading forested countries which its two-thirds of the land is covered with forest. Out of the vast extent of Japan's forest, the artificial forests are one of sustainable sources of timber which are cultivated, maintained, and harvested by human hands. By effectively switching resources from finite resources to inexhaustible resources that come from vast artificial forests, not only that we can finite resources to be replaced with wood, but it also can help regenerate the forests. As a result, it could help reduce CO2 and pollen in the air as well as it could control soil erosion and pollution in the rivers and oceans. A Cedar Stronger than a Cedar
Among the timber resources that grow in domestic artificial forests, cedar has the most left over. Therefore, we have focused on utilizing domestic cedar thinnings. However, the problem with cedar was that its coarse grain is significantly uneven and is soft, making it unsuitable for household appliances. The idea of 'cedar appliances' might seemed reckless. However, the technology to make it possible existed in Hida Takayama. It is the heat compression technology developed by Hida Sangyo Co., Ltd. This technology compresses wood using only water, heat, and pressure without any chemicals. When cedar is compressed in half, the structure becomes dense and homogeneous and the hardness increases three times. Thus, the technology has made it possible to create 'cedar appliances' using "a cedar stronger than a cedar."


Technology and Warmth
The compressed cedar gets sculpted by a processing machine according to the 3D data. After that each piece is meticulously polished by the craftsmanship of skilled artisans. As the finishing touch, three layers of coating is applied to complete the casing. Electronic circuit boards and internal components are integrated into this casing. Then it goes through its final inspection and finally, the wireless charger REST is complete. Once finished, each REST may perform the same, but no two products have the same wood grain design. This is the proof that each REST is crafted from pure natural cedar.
